1. Make notifications prominent

Set volume of notifications

With the screen unlocked, use the Ringtone volume buttons to increase the volume of notifications.

Enable notifications

  • Notification center
  • PIEL Survey
  • Turn on: Allow notifications, Priority display, Status bar, Lock screen

2. Protect from Battery Optimisation

  • Settings
  • Protected apps
  • PIEL Survey
  • Set the PIEL Survey app as Protected

Huawei Honor 8, Android 7

1. Make notifications prominent

Set volume of notifications

  • With the screen unlocked, tap the volume button
  • Tap the dropdown menu icon
  • Adjust Alarms volume slider

Enable notifications

  • Settings
  • Notification & status bar
  • Notifications management
  • PIEL Survey
  • Turn on: Allow notifications, Display in the status bar, Banners, Display on lock screen, Priority display.

2. Protect from Battery Optimisation

  • Settings
  • Battery
  • Close apps after screen lock
  • PIEL Survey
  • The PIEL Survey should be "off"

Huawei p20, Android 8

1. Make notifications prominent

Set volume of notifications

  • With the screen unlocked, tap the volume button
  • Tap the dropdown menu icon
  • Adjust Alarms volume slider

Enable notifications

  • Settings
  • Apps & notifications
  • Notifications management
  • Scroll to PIEL Survey
  • If not enabled, tap
  • Turn on: Allow notifications, Badges. For each sound, enable Banners, Display on lock screen, Priority display, Ringtone and Vibrate.

2. Protect from Battery Optimisation

  • Settings
  • Apps & notifications
  • Apps
  • Tap the "Settings" cogwheel at the bottom of the screen
  • Tap "Special Access".
  • Tap "Ignore battery optimisation"
  • Tap dropdown menu at the top of the screen and tap "All Apps"
  • Scroll to PIEL Survey and tap
  • Select "Allow"

3. Lock in "Recent apps"

Some devices restrict the behaviour of apps which are closed. To minimise the risk of accidentally closing the app, you can "lock" it in the "Recent Apps" bar.

  • Open the PIEL Survey app
  • Open "Recent apps" (tap square icon below the screen)
  • Tap the lock icon on the PIEL Survey thumbnail

The lock should appear closed on the app thumbnail.
