Oppo A57, Android 6

1. Make notifications prominent

Set volume of notifications

With the screen unlocked, use the volume buttons to increase the volume of notifications.

Enable notifications

  • Settings
  • Notification and status bar
  • Manage notifications
  • PIEL Survey
  • Switch on: Allow notifications, Sound & vibration and Priority interruptions.

If you like, you can also switch on the other choices.

2. Protect from Battery Optimisation

  • Settings
  • Battery
  • Energy Saver
  • PIEL Survey
  • Turn off: Freeze when in background and Automatically optimize when an abnormality is detected.

3. Lock in "Recent apps"

Some Oppo devices delete all alarms for an app when it is closed. You should NOT close the app during a scheduled survey. If you accidentally close the app, re-open it as soon as you notice. The alarms will be automatically restored.

To minimise the risk of accidentally closing the app, you can "lock" it in the "Recent Apps" bar.

  • Open the PIEL Survey app
  • Recent apps (tap square icon below the screen)
  • Drag down the PIEL Survey thumbnail
  • Let go of the thumbnail

A lock should appear in the left upper corner of the app thumbnail.

Oppo A73, Android 7

1. Make notifications prominent

Set volume of notifications

  • With the screen unlocked, tap the volume button
  • Tap the dropdown menu icon
  • Adjust Alarm volume slider

Enable notifications

  • Go to Settings
  • Notification & Status Bar
  • Manage Notifications
  • Toggle on Allow Notifications

If you have run a survey, you will see one or more sounds listed in Categories. If you accidentally disable notifications, these sounds need to be re-enabled.

2. Protect from Battery Optimisation

  • Go to Settings
  • Battery
  • Energy Saver
  • Select the PIEL Survey
  • Toggle off all 3 settings.

3. Lock in "Recent apps"

Some Oppo devices delete all alarms for an app when it is closed. You should NOT close the app during a scheduled survey. If you accidentally close the app, re-open it immediately. The alarms will be automatically restored.

To minimise the risk of accidentally closing the app, you can "lock" it in the "Recent Apps" bar.

  • Open the PIEL Survey app
  • Go to: Recent apps (tap square icon below the screen)
  • Drag down the PIEL Survey thumbnail and let it go.
  • The PIEL Survey thumbnail will bounce and show a lock icon in the top right corner.

A lock should appear in the left upper corner of the app thumbnail.

Oppo R15, Android 8

1. Make notifications prominent

Set volume of notifications

  • With the screen unlocked, tap the volume button
  • Tap the dropdown menu icon
  • Adjust Alarm volume slider

Enable notifications

  • Long press the PIEL Survey icon to bring up the Quick Actions Menu
  • App info
  • Turn on: Allow Auto startup
  • Tap: Manage Notifications
  • Turn on: Allow Notifications, Display on Lockscreen
